Story & Approach

mede studio is an architectural practice that explores shared creative threads in the design of products, exhibitions, graphics, and artistic collaborations. The studio believes that engaging various disciplines enriches its approach, producing layered insights and new possibilities. By co-creating with clients, professionals, artists, and thoughtfully considering materiality and environment, mede aspires toward sophisticated, functional designs. The studio was founded by Eldry John Infante and Martin Gabriel Quiambao.

mede has been fortunate to take part in the growing appreciation for cross-disciplinary work. The creative industries, though operating in different contexts, function as parts of the same organism, united by the shared goal of solving real-world problems through design. Architecture, by nature, is collaborative, working closely with engineers to ensure that each structure is both functional and resilient. But when we open up its boundaries, new ways of creating buildings emerge, making the process richer, more explorative, and undeniably exciting.

Our work has been described as "sensitive in honoring the heart of the matter." We thrive in collaboration with engaged clients that are creative, open, and participative. Being fully present allows us to understand each project’s core intentions. We welcome every piece of information, request, and parameter, weaving them together to craft solutions that are specific, thoughtful, and deeply rooted in context.

In a world where rapid change is often driven by working against nature, we see the value in doing the opposite—building with the land. We recognize that building is, by nature, an act of intervention, but we strive for balance, ensuring that our spaces are climate-responsive. Our work seeks to create places that breathe, thrive, and offer respite from the relentless pace of everyday life.

mede takes pride in its attention to detail, resourcefulness, and ability to take on challenging project briefs. The studio’s first project, a meditation center in Quezon City, is designed to cultivate mindfulness through architecture. To achieve this, a series of thoughtful design decisions were made: the site's only tree was preserved as a key connection to nature, concrete was chosen as the primary material to convey austerity, and the careful placement of doors, windows, and walls optimized thermal comfort and indoor acoustics.

The studio has also collaborated with artists and institutions to explore the connection between art, stories, architecture, and society. In 2022, mede helped to realize two Mindanao mosque artworks for Weaving Women’s Words on Wounds of War, an exhibit presented by the Political Science Department of the Ateneo de Manila University. One of the artworks was later turned over in 2024 for installation at the actual mosque in the Southern Philippines. In 2025, Mede co-designed the Urban Forestry Institute Diliman (UFIND) bamboo pavilion in collaboration with head artist Karl Castro for the University of the Philippines Diliman Arts and Culture Fest. The structure seeks to challenge the conventional notions of learning space and foster a more dynamic and inclusive campus environment.
